Job Summary:
The Phone Operator is responsible for continuous auditory and visual attention to and the operation of the incoming phone lines. The primary responsibility of the Phone Operator Is to answer, screen and process all incoming calls from patients, facility staff and the general public and to dispatch or transfer in a prompt, accurate and courteous manner to the appropriate party or department.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate Telephone System Console according to The Surgery Center procedures.
* Receive calls, answer questions of callers, relay calls, and effectively use paging system.
* Review and understands Emergency Plans and responds accordingly.
* Maintain confidential information by following HIPAA regulations, and disposes of confidential forms according to policy.
* Assist patients with pre-registration prior to surgical appointments and in taking payments over the phone before or after their surgical procedure.
* Assist other Business Office Departments with data entry or other assigned duties.
Minimum Knowledge / Skills Required:
Working knowledge of multi-line telephone system operations; basic computer and keyboarding skills; Professional appearance, pleasant personality and speaking voice, Highly organized, Possession of a high level of interpersonal skills, being able to communicate effectively to all individual callers.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent
Experience: Previous healthcare and/or phone operator experience highly desirable
7:00 am to 3:30pm Monday through Friday
