WAREHOUSE SPECIALIST

Job Description

  1. Material Management:
  1. Warehouse specialists keep track of all inbound, outbound, and stored products. They meticulously organize and catalog items, making sure everything is accounted and keeping warehouse clean.
    1. Regularly evaluate inventory and consolidate similar/same part numbers in same location.
  2. Whether it’s raw materials, finished goods, or spare parts, they ensure accurate records and efficient storage.
  3. As needed, provide required products to production for open orders.   
  1. Handling and Movement:
  1. These specialists are hands-on. They load and unload products, stock shelves, and select items for shipping or distribution.
  2. It’s an active and physical role that involves standing for extended periods and lifting, pushing, or pulling cases weighing anywhere from 32 to 50 pounds by hand.
  1. Safety and Compliance:
  1. Safety is paramount. Warehouse specialists follow protocols to prevent accidents, such as using proper lifting techniques and wearing appropriate gear.
  2. They also adhere to safety guidelines related to hazardous materials, machinery, and emergency procedures.
  1. Collaboration:
  1. Warehouse specialists work closely with other team members, including forklift operators, supervisors, and logistics personnel.
  2. Effective communication ensures that everyone is on the same page regarding inventory levels, order fulfillment, and any issues that arise.
  1. Problem-Solving:
  1. When discrepancies occur (like missing items or damaged goods), warehouse specialists investigate and resolve them promptly.
  2. They troubleshoot issues related to storage, organization, and logistics flow.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • While specific requirements vary by employer, here are some common qualifications:
  1. High school diploma or equivalent
  2. Physical fitness (since the job involves lifting and moving heavy items)
  3. Attention to detail
  4. Basic computer skills (for inventory tracking) Certified forklift operator standup and sit-down models.
