SUMMARY: Ensures the quality and ISO compliance of products/processes and manages/coordinates the activities of employees engaged in the quality auditing of production or processing of goods.  Establishes quality-control guidelines and testing procedures.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Quality and ISO Compliance
  • Ensure company’s compliance to Quality & ISO standards.
  • Represent the company in response to customer quality inquiries, surveys and audits.
  • Cooperates with other top management personnel in formulating and establishing quality policies and quality goals.
  • Coordinates functions and operations between departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures.
  • Visits and confers with suppliers to assure supply chain quality.
    • Product Testing and Verification
  • Ensures that VPC products (new and existing) are properly verified to meet performance expectations.
  • Visits and confers with customers to troubleshoot and solve quality issues.
  • Manage QA testing lab equipment and testing task list.
  • Communicates problems, significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards (Rudimentary understanding- training)
  • Continuous Improvement
  • Leads team in proactively improving quality systems and implementing quality improvements to meet company’s quality goals (i.e. scrap $’s and PPM).
  • Champions the use of a disciplined approach to problem solving (8-D’s, MBF’s).
  • Drive SPC data collection and analysis for capability improvement.
  • Improve company’s delivery performance, efficiency, and throughput through the utilization of Lean Principles (Value Stream Mapping, Kanban, and Product Flow).
  • Participate in QOS process to improve costs.        
  • Champion the development of understanding QOS at all levels.
  • Vendor Relations
  • Communicates problems, significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
  • Application of SPC software
  •  Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

     

    SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Directly supervises 4 employees within the Quality department.
    • Indirectly supervises 4 employees within the Quality department.

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor's Degree (BA) in Engineering or technical field, and/or five to ten years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
    • Computer skills required: Microsoft Office Suite, internet, email, manufacturing software, database software
    • Experience with Net-Insepct preferred
