Classification: Non-exempt, Hourly, Full-time/Part-time

Position Summary

The Copper Spike Café Attendant provides friendly and efficient service to guests, prepares and serves food and beverages, processes transactions accurately, and maintains a clean, organized café environment. This role supports a positive guest experience and upholds Verde Canyon Railroad’s standards for service, hygiene, and operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Guest Service & Transactions

  • Greet guests, take orders, and provide product recommendations.
  • Process cash and credit card payments accurately using the POS system.
  • Manage cash drawers, including daily counts and reconciliation.
  • Coordinate with staff to accommodate special requests and preorders.

Food & Beverage Preparation

  • Prepare and serve coffee, specialty drinks, and other beverages.
  • Present food items according to established standards.
  • Assist with basic food preparation and assembly of preordered or complimentary items.

Operations & Cleanliness

  • Complete opening and closing procedures, including equipment setup and shutdown.
  • Restock service areas and maintain organized workstations.
  • Keep the café clean and sanitary, including tables, counters, floors, and equipment.
  • Assist back-of-house operations and support overall team efficiency.
  • Follow food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards.
  • Adhere to workplace safety rules and company policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support business operations and team needs

Qualifications & Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; at least 18 years old.
  • One year of customer or food service experience preferred.
  • Must pass drug screening and background check.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Valid Food Handler’s Permit and Alcohol Certification.
  • Knowledge of food and beverage service.
  • POS experience and cash-handling skills.
  • Flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and nights.
  • Positive attitude, strong communication, multitasking skills, and willingness to cross-train.
