JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provide comprehensive academic, personal, career and financial aid counseling to each program participant. Assess and document the academic and motivational needs of students selected for participation in program activities.
- Assist in providing program awareness of the Upward Bound Program to stakeholders and school site partners, parents, and community member.
- Identify, recruit, screen and select prospective program participants based on a rigorous selection process.
- Assists Upward Bound seniors in applying for admission into post-secondary institutions and securing financial aid resources.
- Monitor and document satisfactory academic progress of participants at each target school.
- Gather and disseminate information on post-secondary entrance requirements, availability of financial aid, and other college preparatory information to prepare Upward Bound participants to successfully transition to college.
- Plan and implement cultural enrichment activities for UBA Summer Academy. Supervise and train undergraduate tutoring staff.
- Plan, Coordinate, and chaperone overnight trips for students locally, regional, and domestic.
- Orient new and continuing participants to TRiO Upward Bound program requirements and encourage full participation in program offerings.
- Develop and foster student non-cognitive skills, abilities, and behaviors, such as positive academic behaviors, self-confidence & self-efficacy, long range academic & career goal setting, leadership, school and community involvement, retention, persistence, and completion.
- Engage in collaborative efforts with other Upward Bound and Federal TRIO Programs to seek internal and external resources to augment program services.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
Monday thru Friday
8am-5pm (Some weekends and evenings required)
