About the Role


The National Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of strategic territories while maintaining strong, collaborative relationships with distributor management. Reporting to the Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), this role is pivotal in driving company growth through strategic leadership, sales execution, and effective distributor engagement.

This individual will oversee sales support in key markets, lead both local and national sales strategies, and work closely with the executive team to develop and implement effective sales plans. The ideal candidate brings a positive, solutions-oriented disposition, with the ability to inspire teams, build trust with partners, and foster long-term customer relationships. The National Sales Manager will cultivate key accounts, oversee the sales pipeline, and ensure the achievement of sales targets—contributing directly to the company’s overall success and expansion.


Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop three direct reports across strategic territories.
  • Provide guidance, oversight, and accountability for sales broker partners.
  • Set clear sales objectives and KPIs, fostering ownership and high performance.
  • Partner with the CRO to align field execution with company goals.

Distributor Management

  • Serve as the primary liaison with distributor management teams and sales brokers across assigned markets.
  • Drive joint business planning, pricing, programming, and incentive negotiations to maximize growth.
  • Coordinate GSMs, market work-withs, and executional programming to ensure alignment at distributor and broker levels.
  • Monitor depletions, inventory, and retail execution, making adjustments to optimize performance.


Sales Strategy & Execution

  • Develop and implement the national sales plan across on- and off-premise channels.
  • Support direct reports in driving territory-level sales and account execution.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key retailers, chains, and influential on-premise accounts.
  • Identify and capitalize on new market opportunities, including strategies for expansion into emerging territories.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Provide regular reporting on depletions, account performance, program ROI, and competitive activity.
  • Evaluate distributor performance and deliver actionable insights to strengthen results.
  • Manage budgets and allocate resources effectively across markets.


Requirements

  • Proven experience scaling growth for premium and craft spirits brands across the U.S.market.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or related field; MBA preferred.
  • 5–10 years of progressive sales experience in the spirits or beverage alcohol industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record of managing distributor networks, sales brokers, and achieving sales targets.
  • Deep understanding of the three-tier system, pricing, programming, and route-to-market execution.
  • Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-driven environment and adapt quickly to change.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills with internal teams, distributors, brokers, and key accounts.
  • Willingness to travel extensively (50%+)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to travel frequently, up to 50% of the time, including by air and ground transportation.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (e.g., promotional materials, product samples).
  • Prolonged periods of sitting, standing, or walking during sales meetings, presentations, and industry events.
