Job Description: Cross Dock Supervisor

Location: 13520 Mercury Drive, Laredo, TX 78045

Department: Cross Dock Operation   Job Status: Full-Time   Reports to:  Site Manager

POSITION SUMMARY 

 

As a team member in Cross dock Operations, you will be a part of Carter Express’ competitive and lively work environment. Team member will be a role model and demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety of others.  Cross Dock Supervisors are the center of supply chain cross docking in the Carter Network and play a vital role in the manufacturing of popular brands of vehicles seen on the road today. This position requires attention to detail, ability to perform in a high-energy, fast-paced environment. Attention to safety and 5S standards are trained and required. Necessary processes to complete job are trained.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES and ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Lead, and direct work assignments to respective hourly personnel in the organization unit Cross Dock operations adhering to policy and procedure.Fosters a proactive, participative, cooperative work environment that works in conjunction with all other departments, shifts, and areas within the organization to maximize productivity and performance.Help develop and coach team members in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback.Monitor, manage and promote proper safety, cleanliness, organization of equipment, workplace, and tools.Communicate with fellow supervisors and manager on daily operational activities.Organizing and planning operational coverage including weekend requirements. Covering vacation time or call offs. Management of inbound freight compliance to customer plan.Communicating, to department lead, any gaps identified in the inbound freight flow.Reporting out hiring needs with corporate recruiters and local HR management. Monitors and manages the flow of work in the warehouse as directed by the department supervisor to achieve daily output target, while upholding Operational Procedures with employees to ensure conformance with company standards.Continually audits, reinforces, and communicates process adherence and behavioral concerns to the department management.Regularly seeks to identify challenges and opportunities.Ability to identify and recommend solutions with the ability to act on resolutions.Inspects material quality and customer compliance to ensure processes can be completed swiftly and accurately by the entire team.
Performs all other duties as necessary for the effectiveness of the Cross Dock operation.

 

EDUCATION:   

High school diploma or GED required.

Highly motivated, energetic, and capable to address issues with a strong sense of urgency.Strong analytical skills, with the ability to report and recommend solutions to challenges.Strong communication skills both verbal and written.Proficiency in computer software (MS Word and Excel, especially)Bi-lingual, both reading and writing, is required. Non-expired passport and the ability to travel in both US and MX preferred.

EXPERIENCE: 

Two (2) years preferred experience in the field of Logistics and Supply Chain or warehousing. One (1) year of leadership experience preferred. Must have a close attention to detail. Must be able to work as a team and collaborate. Must be able to communicate and listen effectively to team members. Knowledge of standard warehouse and DOT policy preferred. 


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  

Supervise hourly staff within Cross Dock.


COMPUTER SKILLS: 

 

Proficient with Microsoft office and preferred experience with a warehouse management or transportation management systems.
