Position Overview

MI Metals is seeking a highly capable ERP Data & Systems Manager to take full ownership of our ERP System – a platform purpose-built for the aluminum extrusion industry. This is a hands-on, high-impact role that combines technical expertise with strategic oversight. As a one-person department, you will manage, develop, and continuously improve every aspect of our ERP software (EPICS) – from daily administration and reporting to long-term planning, integration, and cross-plant standardization. This is an on-site position based in an office and plant-floor environment and will require regular interaction with manufacturing operations across four MI Metals facilities.


Key Responsibilities:

  

Data Analysis and Reporting:

• Develop and automate reports (production, sales, quality, leadership, etc.) using SQL and Crystal Reports 

• Empower users to work with EPICS data through familiar tools like Excel, Microsoft Access, or other third-party software.

• Collaborate with stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver actionable insights.

• Create automated alerts, dashboards, and tools to drive better operational decision-making.

• Ensure timely, accurate, and secure delivery of all recurring and ad hoc reports.

• Write, maintain, and document standard and ad hoc reports to support operations, leadership, and compliance needs.


Data Governance and Optimization:

  •   Establish and enforce data governance standards to improve accuracy and consistency.

  •   Monitor and clean data across systems; proactively identify issues and opportunities.

  •   Recommend and implement relevant EPICS modules based on evolving operational needs.


Systems Integration and Development:

  •   Integrate EPICS with other business systems to enable seamless data transfer and process automation.

  •   Build internal tools and enhancements on top of EPICS to support operations and reduce manual work.

  •   Create and maintain EDI processes to improve automation and communication across systems.

  •   Track, document, and perform scheduled maintenance and system refinements.

  

System Administration:

  •   Serve as the primary point of contact for all EPICS-related support, updates, and enhancements.

  •   Manage user accounts, roles, and permissions within the EPICS system.

  •   Oversee system configuration, implement updates, and maintain a long-term upgrade roadmap.

  •   Ensure consistent usage and best practices across all facilities.

  •   Troubleshoot system issues and maintain a prioritized list of improvement opportunities.

  •   Leverage EPICS’ client/server design and RDMS structure to maximize data accessibility and transparency across the business. 

Requirements:

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

· Bachelor’s degree in Information Management Systems or a related field.

· 5+ years of experience managing information systems.

· 1+ years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server administration and scripting.

· Experience with EPICS or a similar manufacturing ERP system strongly preferred.

· Experience working in a manufacturing environment preferred.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

· Proficiency in Crystal Reports and report automation.

· Strong understanding of how data is entered, structured, and maintained within ERP system.

· Demonstrated ability to extract, analyze, and interpret data from ERP system for reporting and decision-making.

· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

· Proven ability to translate non-technical feedback into meaningful system solutions.

· Self-directed, highly accountable, and comfortable operating as a one-person department.

· Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear, professional reports.

· Willingness and ability to travel between plants as needed.


Travel Requirements:

Position will require approximately 25–30% travel during the first year, with routine travel of 10–15% thereafter
