About this position

Description:

The Psychometric Rater is responsible for administering and scoring clinical efficacy assessments, performing structured and semi-structured diagnostic interviews, and documenting clinical observations for study participants enrolled in clinical research trials. This position works closely with Principal Investigators, Sub-Investigators, Study Coordinators, and other members of the clinical team to ensure all assessments are conducted according to protocol, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and sponsor expectations.

The ideal candidate demonstrates strong clinical interviewing skills, excellent diagnostic judgment, and thorough familiarity with DSM-5 diagnostic criteria. This position requires exceptional attention to detail, integrity in data collection, and professionalism in participant interactions.

Key Responsibilities

Assessment Administration

  • Administer validated psychometric and efficacy scales to study participants across indications such as Alzheimer’s Disease, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, and Substance Use Disorders.
  • Conduct structured and semi-structured clinical interviews to evaluate participant symptoms and overall functioning.
  • Ensure all assessments are administered consistently and scored accurately according to sponsor or scale-specific guidelines.

Diagnostic & Screening Evaluations

  • Perform diagnostic evaluations as required by protocol to determine eligibility and baseline symptomatology.
  • Conduct prescreening interviews to gather relevant clinical and psychosocial history.
  • Provide clinical impressions and recommendations to Principal Investigators regarding participant eligibility and study fit.

Data Management & Regulatory Compliance

  • Record and score assessments with accuracy, ensuring timely data entry and query resolution.
  • Maintain compliance with GCP, HIPAA, and internal SOPs at all times.
  • Participate in quality assurance processes to ensure data integrity and consistency across raters.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Work collaboratively with clinical operations, recruitment, and investigator teams to coordinate assessment schedules and discuss participant progress.
  • Communicate effectively with sponsors, CRO representatives, and monitors during site visits and data reviews.
  • Participate in investigator meetings, sponsor-mandated training, and ongoing inter-rater reliability (IRR) exercises.

Remote & Onsite Assessments

  • Conduct assessments both in-person and remotely using secure, sponsor-approved digital platforms.
  • Ensure the confidentiality and security of participant data during virtual assessments.

Clinical Oversight & Safety

  • Respond appropriately to participant distress or emergent situations in accordance with protocol and safety procedures.
  • Escalate clinical concerns promptly to the Principal Investigator or designated medical professional.

Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Clinical Interviewing: Proficiency in structured diagnostic interviews and efficacy assessments.
  • Diagnostic Expertise: Strong understanding of DSM-5 criteria and psychiatric terminology.
  • Detail Orientation: Accuracy and consistency in documentation and scoring.
  • Communication: Professional written and verbal communication skills with both participants and research staff.
  • Technical Skills: Competence in electronic data capture (EDC) systems and digital assessment tools.
  • Ethical Standards: Commitment to participant confidentiality and ethical conduct in research.
  • Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple studies and meet sponsor-defined timelines.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Master’s degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related clinical field (required).
  • Experience: Minimum of one (1) year of clinical or research experience administering psychometric assessments or conducting diagnostic interviews.
  • Certifications: Rater qualification or scale certification preferred; GCP certification required.
