POSITION: Welder 2nd Shift

LOCATION: Jupiter, FL 

STATUS: Hourly Non-Exempt 

 

JOB SUMMARY 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The essential functions of the job include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Set-up and installation of welding equipment 
  • Execution of welding on gas turbine components as per the required technical specification 
  • Use of hand tools to assemble/disassemble and prep/blend welds.
  • Quality check of the performed work before operation step confirmation 
  • Preparation/confirmation of the required quality documentation 
  • Reporting of used production time per production step 
  • Setting up welding parameters, selects consumable materials, and prepares work piece for new welding process trials together with engineering staff 
  • Designs and fabricates welding fixtures, chill blocks, and purge boxes as required 
  • Reporting of technical deviations with the Non-Conformance Reporting System (NCR) 
  • Carrying out scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on equipment and tools 
  • Keeping the working environment and machines in a clean and proper condition 
  • Following Environmental Health and Safety regulations 
  • Continually improving operations and the working environment 
  • Other tasks assigned by production manager or supervisor 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Education & Training

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Certified in welding (TIG & MIG) or equivalent years of experience. 
  • Must complete EHS assigned regulatory training for work area as described by PSM’s EHS Training Matrix

Skills/Experience 

  • 3+ years of experience with TIG welding 
  • 3+ years of experience in a production or maintenance environment 
  • 1+ years of experience with welding of Ni-base or Ni-Cr alloys 
  • Experienced in carrying out visual inspections of welds 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of manufacturing processes  

Physical Requirements 

  • Stooping/Crouching. Bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist. 
  • Kneeling. Bending legs at knee to come to a rest on knee or knees. 
  • Crawling. Moving about on hands and knees or hands and feet. 
  • Reaching. Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction. 
  • Standing. Particularly for sustained periods of time 
  • Walking. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, particularly for long distances or moving from one work area to another. 
  • Pushing & Pulling 
  • Lifting up to 50 lbs. Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position. 
  • Grasping. Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm. 
  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers. 
  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading; visual inspection involving small defects, small parts, and/or operation of machines (including inspection); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distances close to the eyes. 
  • The worker is subject to noise. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level. 
  • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals. 
  • May require travel (air & ground) with short notice. 
  • Being able to wear required PPEs for specific tasks performed, such as respirators, Tyvek suit, gloves, face shield, etc. 
  • Ability to cooperate and work with people
