Freight Sales Representative (Entry Level)


About the Role

We are hiring a Freight Sales Representative to generate new business and develop into a full-cycle freight seller. This is an entry-level, high-activity sales role where you will own the early and middle stages of the sales process and gradually take opportunities through close with the support of senior sales executives.

You will learn the transportation industry from the ground up while building experience across truckload, LTL, consolidation, and brokerage solutions.


Role Responsibilities:


Research & Preparation

  • Research target industries, accounts, and ideal customer profiles
  • Understand market conditions, shipping challenges, and UC Group’s competitive positioning
  • Prepare outreach messaging and call plans


Prospecting & Lead Generation

  • Prospect new shipping opportunities through cold calling, email outreach, referrals, and networking
  • Make a high volume of outbound calls and emails daily
  • Build and manage your own pipeline of opportunities
  • Track all activity in Salesforce or another CRM


Lead Qualification

  • Conduct initial discovery conversations to assess budget, authority, need, and timeline
  • Qualify opportunities before advancing them
  • Convert leads into sales-accepted opportunities with legitimate pricing events


Discovery & Needs Assessment

  • Run discovery calls to understand shipping lanes, volumes, service expectations, and pain points
  • Align customer needs with the appropriate truckload, LTL, or consolidation solutions


What We’re Looking For

  • Strong communication skills and confidence on the phone
  • Competitive, resilient, and goal-oriented mindset
  • Highly organized with strong time management skills
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment
  • Sales or customer service experience preferred, but not required
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred


Compensation & Growth

  • Base salary: $50,000–$65,000
  • Uncapped commission tied to revenue
  • Clear path for promotion into a Freight Sales Executive role
