About the Role

As the Staff Development Coordinator, you’ll be the heartbeat of training and education for our community. You’ll design and deliver engaging learning experiences, guide new team members through their onboarding journey, and lead our infection prevention and control initiatives with expertise and passion.

Working closely with nursing leadership, you’ll support quality improvement efforts, promote wellness, and ensure our team is confident, capable, and equipped to provide exceptional care.

What You’ll Do

  • Support Assisted Living with all training and education needs.
  • Lead new hire orientation and deliver impactful in-service training across all shifts.
  • Promote excellence by following nursing standards and reinforcing facility policies.
  • Ensure Relias training is completed and up to date— and coach staff when it's not.
  • Play a key role in performance improvement and corrective action initiatives.
  • Develop training programs based on real needs to help staff reach their full potential.
  • Coordinate and teach the facility’s Infection Control Program with confidence.
  • Create monthly and annual education calendars for the Director of Nursing.
  • Design instructional materials and provide hands-on demos for clinical equipment.
  • Serve as an active and valued member of the QA/QAPI teams.
  • Lead employee health and wellness education initiatives.
  • Collaborate across departments to create a cohesive, supportive environment.
  • Offer nursing support as needed — teamwork makes the dream work!
  • Take on other responsibilities that support our mission and care goals.

Qualifications That Make You Shine

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (required)
  • RN License Required

Experience

  • At least 1 year in geriatric or long-term care
  • Staff development or training experience (required)
  • Infection control training completion (or willingness to complete)
  • Ability to attend NC SPICE Infection Control Training upon hire and every 5 years

Other Must-Haves

  • Active RN license in good standing
  • Excellent communication, organization, and teaching skills
  • Professional writing and documentation abilities
  • Confidence managing multiple priorities independently
