Position Overview

This is a part-time, hourly position.
Teaching hours are typically scheduled between 2:00 PM and 9:00 PM on weekdays and during weekends, based on school programming and student availability.
Competitive pay depends on experience.

Some instructors may have the opportunity to add hours during the summer camp season based on program needs and scheduling availability.

Role Responsibilities

As a Drum Instructor, you will be responsible for all drum-related education within lessons and rehearsals, creating an engaging and inspiring experience for every student. You’ll bring energy, professionalism, and a love of rhythm to help students grow as musicians and as people.

Music Instruction

Deliver high-quality drum instruction through private lessons and group rehearsals.

Ensure students are learning the fundamentals of drumming, including technique, groove, and musicality, not just songs.

Create and document thoughtful lesson plans using the School of Rock Method™, Books, and Method App.

Prepare students for live performances and recitals in line with the School of Rock performance-based philosophy.

Customer Connection

Communicate effectively with parents and students about progress and goals.

Document lesson notes and practice assignments in the School of Rock Method App.

Be visible and accessible within the school community, creating a positive and professional impression.

Support the team by assisting with rehearsals, school events, and upkeep of studio spaces.

Physical Requirements

Light to moderate physical activity, including moving drums, amplifiers, and other equipment.

Ability to sit or stand for extended periods during lessons and rehearsals.

Work environment includes amplified sound; hearing protection is required when sound levels exceed safe thresholds.

Qualifications

Proficient in drum set performance and comfortable teaching multiple styles (rock, pop, funk, etc.).

Ability to teach a wide range of students by age and skill level.

Preferably 2+ years of teaching and/or professional performance experience.

Strong knowledge of rhythm theory, reading, and groove development.

Comfortable with basic technology and digital lesson tools.

Organized, patient, enthusiastic, and positive.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Passion for helping students develop confidence, creativity, and teamwork through music.

Must pass a background screening prior to training.
