Materials & Shipping Supervisor

We’re looking for a Materials & Shipping Supervisor to oversee our inventory management and logistics operations. This is a key role that ensures the smooth flow of materials throughout our facility while maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and productivity.
As the Materials & Shipping Supervisor, you will lead a dedicated team responsible for inventory accuracy, material movement, shipping/receiving operations, and adherence to safety and LEAN principles. You’ll support strategic initiatives, drive process improvements, and help build a culture focused on teamwork and operational excellence.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Oversee all controlled inventory movement within the department
- Conduct root-cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions for inventory discrepancies
- Identify excess or obsolete materials and collaborate with Finance, Purchasing, and Production
- Maintain and improve cycle count programs; lead year-end full inventory count
- Train team members on ERP processes and support error resolution
- Direct daily workflow in alignment with production schedules and priorities
- Manage receiving, including quality checks of incoming materials
- Coordinate packing, shipping preparation, and truck/trailer loading
- Lead, coach, and develop team members; maintain skills matrix and training plans
- Encourage team suggestions and support production improvements
- Interpret procedures and ensure proper methods and equipment use
- Address employee concerns and resolve issues in accordance with policy
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture
Requirements:
- 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and mentor a team
- Knowledge of LEAN principles and continuous improvement methods
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel)
- Experience with Syteline, IFS, or similar ERP systems (asset)
- Valid passport and driver’s license, with the ability to travel within Canada and the U.S.
Physical Demands
This role involves regular use of hands for handling tools and materials. You may also be required to sit frequently, and occasionally stand, walk, talk, and hear. Reasonable accommodation will be provided where necessary.
