The Role: 

Personal Training at THE WELL delivers highly individualized, integrative training experiences using functional training methods, intentionality, and a commitment to whole-body wellness. As a member of a multidisciplinary wellness team, trainers contribute to an integrated approach to healing by offering fitness that helps improve performance, strength, stamina, mobility, balance and functionality. Trainers are expected to act as trusted partners collaborating with movement instructors and wellness practitioners to deliver cohesive programming. This is a 1099 contract position requiring schedule flexibility, professional autonomy and adherence to THE WELL’s brand standards.  

The Responsibilities: 

 Member Experience

  • Demonstrate knowledge and expertise with emphasis on safe alignment, thoughtful progressions , and personal empowerment.

  • Incorporate anatomy, mindfulness, and wellness philosophy into sessions, as appropriate.  

  • Encourage member engagement with THE WELL’s broader wellness offerings, including services, retail, and educational events.

  • Stay current with emerging wellness trends and member needs.

  • Provide guidance and offer suggestions aligned with member’s wellness goals.

  • Maintain member confidentiality and respect of privacy.

  • Maintain punctuality, a positive attitude and encouraging engagement.

Communication & Collaboration

  • Record relevant member session notes in member profile to provide continuity of care, and support interdisciplinary communication and records with practitioner team

  • Collaborate with team members across departments to ensure a seamless and integrated member experience.

  • Communicate clearly and consistently with the fitness  leadership team regarding equipment issues, maintenance needs, member feedback, and schedule updates.

  • Maintain a respectful, professional presence and contribute to a positive, inclusive team culture.

Health, Safety, Gym & Locker Room Upkeep

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized  environment before, during, and after each session.

  • Monitor and report on cleanliness, equipment condition, and supply needs in the gym and locker room spaces.  

  • Follow all safety protocols, and be prepared to respond appropriately in the event of an injury or emergency.

  • Provide appropriate verbal or physical adjustments only with consent and in alignment with THE WELL’s conduct policy.

  • Screen clients for contraindications, injuries and medical limitations

  • Implement safe progression models based on biomechanics and load management

  • Immediately document and report to management any incidents of safety concerns  or injury.

Personal Training Duties 

  • Deliver private and semi-private sessions with exceptional service standards reflective of a luxury environment.

  • Responsible for generating new and repeat business through member engagement and referrals.

  • Conduct comprehensive performance assessments for new members and members who want to track their progress.

Qualifications Required: 

  • Minimum 3 years  of personal training experience ideally within a luxury or concierge setting.

  • Nationally recognized Personal Training Certification from NASM, NSCA, ACSM, ACE or equivalent. 

  • Thorough understanding of anatomy, biomechanics, mindful movement, and wellness philosophy.

  • Current CPR/AED certification.

  • Competency in functional assessment, corrective exercise and strength programming

  • Experience working with diverse populations including executives, athletes and clients focused on longevity

  • Must hold professional liability insurance

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and discretion appropriate for a members only club environment.

  • Professional, collaborative, and service-oriented demeanor.

  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn studio scheduling systems and wellness CRM tools.

  • Additional movement or wellness certifications (e.g., Pilates, breathwork, meditation) are a plus.
