We’re pleased to announce an opportunity for the position of Classroom/Kitchen Aide within the Head Start Department.


Location: Colville, WA
Status: Full-Time
Offered At: $18.48 - $19.99 per/hr.
Salary Range: $18.48– $49.26 per/hr. (Represents the low and high end of the total salary range for this position)


Position Summary

The Classroom/Kitchen Aide works under close supervision of education staff to support early childhood classroom activities, implement trauma informed practices, ensure active supervision of children, assist with food preparation, and maintain a clean and safe classroom and kitchen environment. May serve as a Bus Monitor where needed.

 

Please note that this position is subject to the Head Start Wage Freeze, effective July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026.

*A wage freeze means that there will be no cost-of-living adjustments or merit-based increases to wages during this period, in accordance with program funding guidelines.


Essential Job Functions: Classroom & Kitchen Support

  • Assist teachers with classroom supervision and activities (indoors & outdoors).
  • Conduct cleaning, sanitizing, laundry, and maintenance tasks.
  • Prepare and serve meals; complete required documentation; occasional shopping.
  • Engage positively with children, follow guidance policies, and support self-regulation.
  • Organize classroom materials before and after activities.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Preferred: One year of experience working with preschool or elementary-aged children

Required Licenses & Certifications

  • Reliable transportation
  • First Aid & Infant/Child CPR (within 30 days of hire)
  • Food Worker’s Card (within 30 days of hire)
  • Acceptable criminal background check
  • Physical exam within three weeks of hire (employee expense)

Health Requirements

  • TB test results prior to employment (with allowable exemptions)
  • Documentation of MMR immunity, vaccination, or medical exemption
