Job Summary:
The Welder is responsible for performing precision welding tasks to fabricate and repair metal components and assemblies according to specifications. This role requires technical expertise, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders to determine project requirements.
- Set up welding equipment and tools based on the type of weld required.
- Perform various welding techniques, such as MIG, TIG, and arc welding, to join metal components accurately.
- Inspect welds to ensure they meet quality standards and make necessary adjustments for precision.
- Prepare metal surfaces by cleaning, grinding, or cutting to ensure proper weld joints.
- Repair or replace damaged metal components and assemblies as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of welding equipment to maintain peak performance.
- Collaborate with team members to meet production schedules and project deadlines.
- Adhere to workplace safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain a clean and organized work area to promote a safe and efficient working environment.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (certifications in welding preferred).
- 2+ years of experience in welding, preferably in a manufacturing or construction setting.
- Proficiency in various welding techniques and metalworking tools.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
- Frequent standing, kneeling, and bending during welding tasks.
- Lifting and moving materials up to 50 pounds regularly.
- Regular exposure to noise, heat, and sparks in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to wear required protective gear, such as welding helmets, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
