Position: Ground Support/Laborer


DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Foreman or Electrician with all phases of construction work, including demolition, material handling, and general labor
  • Work as part of a 3–4 person crew to complete daily project tasks
  • Operate, maintain, and care for a variety of hand tools, power tools, and construction equipment
  • Prepare jobsites by measuring, marking layouts, removing obstacles, and identifying hazards
  • Load, unload, and distribute construction materials such as steel, conduit, and cement as directed
  • Perform moderate concrete flatwork including forming, pouring, and finishing
  • Dig trenches and ditches; backfill excavations; level and place pipe and conduit using hand and power tools
  • Assist with underground utility installation, pipe laying, and conduit placement
  • Prepare sites for concrete pours and assist with placement of materials
  • Perform landscaping, grading, and fence-building tasks as required
  • Mix cement and assist with assembling materials or equipment as directed
  • Clean and maintain assigned work areas, including removing debris, rubble, and trash
  • Direct traffic and assist equipment operators with alignment, movement, and positioning of machinery
  • Ensure the jobsite is cleaned and organized at the end of each day, with tools and materials properly stored
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Foreman or Electrician

Requirements:

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to travel extensively, possibly out of state, for extended periods of time, including overnight and weekends.
  • Ability to work outdoors year round
  • Ability to work in a team-focused work environment. You must be able to work well in coordination with a crew.
  • Ability to locate and use standard industry hand tools, test equipment, and supplies.
  • Ability to learn safety procedures, rules & language quickly.
  • Strong technical, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a variety of personalities.  
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetic as needed to count and take inventory.  

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have fully completed and up-to-date industry certs (OSHA 10 and/or 30, First Aid/CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, RF Awareness) OR be willing to go through paid training to get certified/re-certified. 
  • Prior concrete experience
  • Prior construction experience
  • Basic electrical experience preferred
  • Heavy equipment experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license. (CDL preferred)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 100 pounds and push and/or pull 50-pound loads at a time. 
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.  
  • Must be able to stand and walk up to eight hours per day and climb multiple sets of stairs while carrying materials weighing between 40 and 60 pounds.  
  • Constantly repeating physical motions like lifting arms, grasping tools, and reaching for equipment. Eye/hand/feet coordination crucial. 
  • Must be able to work some Saturdays and at night, when needed.  
  • Loading and unloading material and equipment in a warehouse setting and on the construction sites, with and without the assistance of a lift gate




Salary Information

$18.00 - $27.00 Hourly Wage
