Job Title: Specialty cashier
Department: Front End
Reports To: Store Manager or Assistant Store Manager

Job Summary:

The Specialty cashier is responsible for overseeing all front-end operations, ensuring a smooth and efficient checkout process for customers. This role includes supervising cashiers, handling customer concerns, balancing registers, maintaining secure cash handling procedures, and ensuring accurate daily and weekly financial reporting. The Specialty cashier sets the tone for excellent customer service and leads by example.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and schedule front-end staff, including cashiers and baggers
  • Train new front-end team members on register operation, customer service, and store policies
  • Monitor and assist with daily cashier performance and provide coaching as needed
  • Ensure all cash registers are balanced at the end of shifts and troubleshoot discrepancies
  • Provide prompt and courteous customer service; resolve complaints or escalate to management when needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized checkout area
  • Open and close registers, prepare cash deposits, and follow proper cash-handling procedures
  • Oversee daily inventory and balancing of lottery tickets, the store safe, and money orders
  • Perform daily and weekly accounting of sales, payments, and other front-end financial activity
  • Ensure that front-end team members follow proper bagging procedures and safety guidelines
  • Communicate with other departments to support smooth store operations
  • Enforce store policies and procedures among the front-end staff
  • Monitor breaks and lunches to ensure compliance with labor laws and store policy

Service desk Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service & Support
  • Greet and assist customers with returns, exchanges, and refunds according to company policy
  • Provide accurate information and support for store services and policies
  • Handle customer concerns or complaints promptly and courteously


  • Transactions & Services
  • Process money orders, lottery/lotto tickets, and bill payments
  • Rent and return Rug Doctor carpet cleaners, ensuring proper documentation
  • Accept special orders for items not regularly stocked
  • Accurately complete and reconcile cash drawer at beginning and end of shifts


  • Communication & Store Support
  • Answer incoming phone calls and direct them to the appropriate departments
  • Make store-wide pages for staff or customer announcements
  • Sign for deliveries at the service desk and notify the appropriate department
  • Handle customer pickup items and service desk inventory


  • Stocking & Maintenance
  • Receive, unpack, and put away cigarette and tobacco product inventory securely
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the service center area

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience as a cashier, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent customer service and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to handle cash, reconcile financial records, and maintain accuracy
  • Comfortable using POS systems and basic office/accounting tools
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs as needed
  • Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
