Location: This is an in-person position based at two Older Adult Centers. The supervisor will rotate between locations, with workdays varying based on program and operational needs:
• Brookdale Village Older Adult Center: 131 Beach 19th Street, Far Rockaway, NY
• Holliswood Older Adult Center: 86-25 Francis Lewis Boulevard, Queens, NY
About the Role
The Social Work Supervisor plays a vital leadership role within JASA’s Older Adult Centers (OAC), overseeing the clinical and administrative functions of the Case Management team. This position provides direct supervision, guidance, and support to Case Managers while ensuring high-quality, compliant, and person-centered services for older adults. The Supervisor helps strengthen the continuum of care and ensures clients have access to critical benefits, resources, and supports that promote safety, stability, and independence.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Social Work Supervisor, you will:
Provide direct supervision and clinical guidance to Case Managers, including facilitating monthly staff meetings in collaboration with the Associate Director
Review and approve case notes and Information & Assistance logs to ensure quality, accuracy, and compliance
Identify and escalate high-risk cases or emergency situations involving OAC clients to the Associate Director
Assess staff training needs and ensure participation in professional development and funder-required trainings
Monitor program data and performance using electronic client record systems (currently Vive)
Support Program Directors with the preparation and submission of reports to city and private funders
Ensure program coverage at Older Adult Centers during staff vacancies or extended leaves of absence
Participate in emergency operations, including Cooling Centers and Make-Up Days, which may occur after hours or on weekends, as required by city funders
Maintain an active caseload to provide in-person case assistance at Older Adult Centers, as needed
Lead outreach and community education efforts to increase awareness of JASA’s Information & Assistance services
Coordinate access to essential entitlements and supports, including Medicare, Medicaid, and home-based services
Perform additional administrative and clinical duties to support overall center operations
Qualifications
Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited college or university; master’s degree in counseling, gerontology, psychology, or a related field preferred
Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; proficiency in Spanish, Chinese dialects, or Russian is a plus
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Excellent interpersonal skills with a collaborative and supportive leadership approach
Demonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences
Computer proficiency and the ability to learn and utilize program-specific systems (currently Vive)
