Job Summary

The Specialty Finance Advisor in Business Banking provides critical expertise in SBA and Commercial Real Estate products to Business Relationship Managers. This role consults with BRMs to identify client financing needs, structure loans, manage applications, and close deals successfully. The position requires strong relationship-building skills, regulatory knowledge, and the ability to drive business growth through portfolio development and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as subject matter expert in SBA and Commercial Real Estate lending to support business development and portfolio growth.

  • Identify client needs and develop tailored lending solutions.

  • Structure and price loans in compliance with bank policies and government regulations.

  • Assess preliminary SBA eligibility for clients and guide them through the application process.

  • Manage loan pipeline through closing and booking stages.

  • Provide excellent client service and manage expectations throughout the loan lifecycle.

  • Educate BRMs and internal partners on SBA and CRE products, eligibility, and opportunity identification.

  • Build and maintain relationships with SBA District Offices and Certified Development Companies.

  • Stay current on bank credit policy and SBA standard operating procedures.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 7 years of commercial/business banking relationship experience.

  • Minimum 2 years of SBA and Commercial Real Estate lending experience.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Marketing, or related business field (or equivalent experience).

  • Strong understanding of SBA products, rules, and regulations.

  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills.

  • Proven ability to assess client needs, influence decisions, and deliver solutions.

  • Results-oriented, customer-focused, and able to work in a collaborative team environment.
