Reports to: Pastoral Assistant

Employment Type: Full time, temporary to cover leave. May become permanent. 

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary: $19 - $22/hr. based on experience. 


Position Summary:
The Receptionist assists in the office of reception/general operations of St. Thérèse of Carmel Catholic Church (STOC). The St. Thérèse of Carmel Catholic Church serves roughly 3000 Catholic families in the Carmel Valley region of San Diego. 


Brief Summary of Responsibilities

  • Provides receptionist services for STOC 
  • Answers telephone, checks voicemail, takes messages and directs calls appropriately 
  • Greets visitors in-person and assists with their inquiries 
  • Coordinates STOC communications via weekly bulletin, Flocknote & parish website 
  • Receives payment (cash/check) and documents receipt for candles and Mass intention cards 
  • Updates MS Outlook calendar, MS Word and Excel templates 
  • Processes new parishioner registrations and sends welcome cards  
  • Receives and routes STOC mail and packages 
  • Other duties as assigned by Pastor or Pastoral Assistant 
Requirements:
  • Experience with administrative and office procedures 
  • Demonstrated experience with Canva and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Creative Suite, database entry 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Excellent people skills and professional demeanor 
  • Willing to learn; self-starter; professional; well organized; detail oriented; able to perform multiple tasks simultaneously; possess a strong work ethic; punctual  
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality 
  • Familiarity with the organizational structure and practices of the Roman Catholic Church 

Physical Demands


While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to remain in an office at a computer workstation and access information from a computer and use a telephone. The employee is required to be mobile to, from, and within the office, as well as maneuver throughout the school facility to attend meetings, briefings, and other work-related events. The employee may be required to conduct trips to, from, and within various city and county-wide locations to attend meetings or events. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. This position may require evening and weekend work.
