About this position
Central City Brewers and Distillers is a craft brewery in the business of developing and selling international award-winning premium craft beer and high-quality distilled spirits brewed without compromise. Based in Surrey, British Columbia, CCBD was voted Canada Best Brewery of the Year in 2010 and 2012. Its Red Racer brand has become a cult icon among craft beer enthusiasts throughout North America. Founded in 2003 as a brewpub and liquor store in downtown Surrey, CCBD celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2013 with the grand opening of a brand new, 68,000 sq. ft. brewery and distillery on Bridgeview Drive. In 2019 we opened a 40,000 sq. ft. storage facility with approximately 2000 barrels of whiskey ageing in this facility. We are proud of being a local-Canadian Brewery that is currently expanding. In 2021 the company completed installation of a new canning line designated for contract manufacturing.
JOB SUMMARY
The Forklift Operator/Driver is responsible for safely and efficiently operating forklifts and reach trucks to manage the movement of production materials and finished goods within the warehouse. This role involves loading and unloading trailers and trucks, as well as transferring pallets, containers and other in gradient or packaging materials, finished cases and kegs between different locations. The position also includes delivering products (cases and kegs) to various areas within the Greater Vancouver area and Fraser Valley when required. The Driver/Forklift Operator reports directly to the Warehouse Supervisor and plays a key role in maintaining smooth operations within the warehouse and on delivery routes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate a forklift / reach truck to pick orders from warehouse racking
- Load 53' trailers / 5-ton / 3-ton truck with pallets of product
- Unload 53' trailers / 5-ton truck of pallets of packaging materials / ingredients
- Strapping, block and bracing to ensure safety stowage of the products or empty kegs
- Put away pallets of finished goods into the appropriate bin locations of the warehouse racking
- Use of scan guns and transfer pallets of materials / finished goods between buildings using a forklift
- Organizing pallets of materials / finished goods / dunnage around the production area, the plant loading docks, and the co-packing / warehouse facility
- Physical clean-up / recycling / cardboard compacting / tidying work areas and around both buildings.
- Drive 3-ton truck between CCBD’s buildings, and to other local destinations to pick-up or drop-off production materials or finished goods as directed by CCBD’s dispatcher.
- Perform other tasks contributing to the smooth operation of the facility
- Submit or receive information to or from the dispatcher using proper communication equipment
- Other warehousing / shipping & receiving / co-packing duties as directed by the supervisor or shift-supervisor
QUALIFICATIONS/DESIRED ATTRIBUTES
- Min. 1 years’ experience as a 3 ton or 5 ton truck driver with a clean driving record
- Min. 1 years’ experience operating forklifts or reach trucks in a swift yet safe manner with a clean accident / product damage record
- Min. 1 years’ experience in a warehouse environment using a WMS system, picking / putting-away / loading deliveries using guns
- Active sit-down forklift ticket
- Active narrow-aisle reach truck ticket is an asset but not require
- Scanner Gun experience
- Valid Class 5 driver's license is required
- Valid Class 1 driver's license is required
- Responsible, motivated, peppy, with a can-do attitude and collaborates well in a team
