Summary:  The Instructional Technology Specialist partners directly with faculty to enrich the curriculum and enhance student engagement by thoughtfully and effectively integrating technology into the classroom. This person serves as a pedagogical coach, resource provider, and innovation leader, empowering teachers to leverage digital tools to support Orangewood Christian School’s educational and spiritual mission.

The Instructional Technology Specialist is a position requiring a calling to use God-given talents to further the Kingdom of God. The individual is expected to be a minister to the OCS community through actions, speech, attitude, and prayer, as they point students to Christ.


Essential Function:

Instructional Coaching & Collaboration

· Work one-on-one, in small groups, and with entire departments to co-plan, model, and co-teach lessons that leverage technology.

· Provide personalized support and mentorship to faculty, meeting them at their individual comfort level with technology.

Professional Development

· Design, schedule, and lead engaging professional development workshops and training sessions for faculty based on curricular needs and educational best practices.

Curriculum & Resource Curation

· Research, evaluate, and recommend new educational apps, software, and digital resources that align with the school’s curriculum and goals.

· Develop and maintain an online resource hub with tutorials, project ideas, and best-practice guides for teachers and students.

· Share engaging and inspiring technology tips each Tuesday, including video tutorials, to help faculty creatively integrate iPads into classroom learning.

Innovation & Research

· Stay current with emerging trends in educational technology and instructional design.

· Lead pilot programs for new technologies and share findings and recommendations with school leadership.

· Lead Orangewood’s annual iCreate: The Impact Project, overseeing project design, communication, judging, and awards.

Technology Curriculum Collaboration

· Collaborate closely with the technology teacher to review curriculum and instructional practices that support the department’s mission and goals.

· Partner with school leaders to implement digital discipleship (digital citizenship) curriculum.

AI Integration and Policy Guidance

· Support school policies regarding AI use in student work.

· Guide appropriate classroom use of AI tools and train staff on academic integrity in a digital/AI era.

School Website and Message Management

· Maintain and update the school website to ensure content accuracy and alignment with school communications.

· Support creation and distribution of digital messages and announcements to families and staff.

· Train staff to use the school’s messaging system effectively.

School Event Support

· Produce and edit videos that highlight and support school programs and initiatives.

· Capture video footage of school events and activities for communication and promotional purposes.

Software Support & Troubleshooting

· Diagnose and resolve software and device issues to minimize disruption to learning.

· Assist with iPad and Mac refresh cycles and device distribution.

eSports Team Coach and eSports Club Supervisor

· Coach Middle and High School eSports teams during fall and spring seasons.

· Supervise the eSports club during lunch periods.

· Oversee the maintenance and care of the eSports Lab and gaming equipment.


Supplemental Functions:

· Support faculty and staff with technology integration projects and initiatives beyond the classroom as needed.

· Participate in professional development to continuously grow in educational technology best practices.

· Serve as a visible presence and resource during key school events.


Technical Knowledge & Experience:

· Proficiency in Apple ecosystems (iPadOS, macOS) and creativity apps (iMovie, Clips, Keynote, Pages).

· Experience with Learning Management Systems (Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology, SeeSaw).

· Familiarity with a wide range of instructional software tools (Nearpod, IXL, Freckle, Explain Everything, BrainPop, etc.).

· High proficiency in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Forms, Calendar, Gmail).

Requirements:

Preferred Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Instructional Technology, or related field

Certification(s) Preferred: Holds or is in the process of earning a Florida Educator Certificate.

Years of Experience: Minimum 3 years of classroom teaching experience preferred
