Position Summary:
The Material Handler I role is responsible for ensuring efficient flow of materials and products within the production environment. The individual will operate forklifts, perform basic crane operations, and assist with material flow for production. Key responsibilities include unloading and loading shipments, maintaining organization within the warehouse, assisting with cycle counts, and ensuring materials are available where needed. This role plays a critical part in maintaining an organized and efficient warehouse while adhering to safety protocols.
Essential Functions:
- Operate hand jacks and forklifts to safely unload inbound shipments, load outbound shipments, and transport materials to and from production areas, ensuring smooth and efficient material handling.
- Perform crane operations under supervision to safely move materials within production areas.
- Ensure efficient material flow for production by organizing and prioritizing materials to meet production schedules.
- Perform physical inventories and participate in cycle counting to maintain accurate stock levels.
- Participate in clean-up initiatives, maintaining a safe and clean working environment.
- Conduct routine equipment cleaning and basic maintenance to ensure forklifts, cranes, and other tools are in good order.
- Collect and organize paperwork, including receipts, Bills of Lading (BOL), and other shipment documentation.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, including the correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Minimum Qualifications:
- Proficient in forklift operation, ensuring safe loading and unloading of materials.
- Crane operation skills to enable safe material movement.
- Strong understanding of material flow processes to support production needs.
- Experience with routine maintenance of forklifts, cranes, and other equipment to ensure operational efficiency.
- Excellent organizational skills for prioritizing material needs and maintaining inventory accuracy.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced production environment while maintaining focus on safety.
- Ability to follow both verbal and written instructions with attention to detail.
- Strong focus on safety protocols and maintaining cleanliness in work areas.
- Effective communication skills for working closely with team members and supervisors.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- 1 year of experience operating a forklift.
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 lbs.
- Completion of company-provided safety training upon hire.

Full-time hourly: $18.00 - $19.00 dependent upon experience, and qualifications.
