Physical Demands
The Accounting Assistant will support daily accounting operations, maintain financial records, and assist with various administrative tasks. This role is crucial for ensuring accurate financial data and smooth operations within the department.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
Maintain accurate financial records, including invoices and receipts.
Assist in bank reconciliations and month-end closing activities.
Assign account coding and timely input accounts payable invoices and credit card transactions into the accounting system.
Conduct the disbursement process following all company policies and procedures.
Prepare and post journal entries.
Support the preparation of financial reports and statements.
Respond to vendor and customer inquiries regarding invoices and payments.
Maintain organized and up-to-date files and documentation.
Conduct the annual IRS 1099 reporting process.
Assist with cycle counts of inventory.
Work to improve financial processes with a focus on continuous improvement.
Collaborate with other departments to gather necessary financial information.
Perform additional tasks and support projects as needed.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Associates degree in accounting.
0-3 years of accounting experience.
Commitment to mission and values-driven work environment.
Superior time management and organizational skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
Ability to work in a dynamic team, as well as an ability to carry out tasks independently.
Confidentiality and trustworthiness.
Effective interpersonal communication skills requiring high integrity when dealing with a broad array of backgrounds.
Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
Knowledge of QuickBooks is preferred.
Non-profit experience is preferred.
