SUMMARY 

Packaging Clerk performs warehouse duties and functions to support inventory integrity, order processing picking, packing, sorting, and general maintenance, and housekeeping duties to ensure a safe, clean, and orderly work environment.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Functions may include, but are not limited to unloading, put-away, sorting, labeling, picking, packing, replenishing, auditing, shipping, making boxes, etc.
  • Performs ticketing, stocking, picking, packing, counting, housekeeping and safety functions
  • Order Picking/Filling- Pick orders for shipment and assemble various types of products to be shipped
  • Receives, counts and records shipment data into the system. Matches packing list information to actual packed merchandise
  • Pack, unpack, and mark stock items, using identification tag, stamp, or electronic marking tool or other labeling equipment
  • Identify incorrect/short made items and immediately notify supervisor
  • Verify computations against physical count of stock
  • Examine and inspect stock items for wear and defects
  • Clean, wash, prepare parts per work instructions, prints or verbal communications
  • Maintains a clean and organized work area
  • Must be a team player as measured by his/her peers
  • Performs other related duties assigned


Requirements:

REQUIRED 

  • 1 to 2 years of warehouse/inventory experience 
  • Experience in fast paced, high unit retail or manufacturing distribution center environment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to understand basic instructions in English

DESIRED

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) desired but not a must-have
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and handheld devices (RF)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:


Sitting/Standing/Walking

  • Approximately 25% is spent seated at a desk, working on the telephone or at a computer terminal
  • Approximately 75% is spent bending, squatting, standing, or moving about the work area
  • Frequently lifts, carries, or moves objects weighing up to 25 lbs. and occasionally 50 lbs.
  • Must have ability to use hands to finger, handle, or feel
  • Must have ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, reach within hands and arm’s length, stoop, kneel, and crouch
  • Must have ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to wear required Personal Protective equipment (PPE) for extended periods of time 
  • Must show proficiency in the set-up and operation of all necessary equipment 

Speaking/Hearing

  • Ability to speak read and write English 
  • Clear diction, correct grammar and acute haring are necessary for effective communication with clients, vendors, management, and other employees

Vision

  • Corrected vision close to 20/20 is necessary to effectively use computer screens, read reports and responding to correspondence and emails 

 Working conditions are normal for a manufacturing environment. Work may require occasional weekend and/or evening work
