Mission of the Dental Hygienist Role


The Dental Hygienist reports to the Practice Administrator and plays a key role in shaping how children and families feel about dental care.


Mission:

To deliver exceptional clinical care and meaningful education while ensuring every patient feels safe, understood, and comfortable.

Hygiene Production


Key Responsibilities

  • Creating a Positive Experience
  • Welcome and seat patients with warmth and reassurance
  • Provide outstanding patient comfort
  • Update health histories and take vital signs

Clinical Excellence

  • Provide preventative hygiene care
  • Perform STM treatments (perio charting, etc.)
  • Place sealants
  • Administer local anesthesia
  • Take x-rays
  • Take impressions as needed
  • Maintain thorough and accurate patient notes

Education & Empowerment

  • Teach patients and parents about treatment needs
  • Recommend products and habits that enhance oral health
  • Encourage children in ways that build confidence and ownership

Team Support

  • Schedule hygiene recare appointments
  • Help keep the hygiene schedule full
  • Assist front desk as needed
  • Clean and set up rooms
  • Sterilize instruments
  • Stock supplies
  • Support additional responsibilities as needed
