Job Purpose
The Medical Scheduler assists individuals in being connected to 26Health and all services offered by the organization. Responsible for moving the patients through the scheduling process.
Duties and responsibilities
Book, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments across multiple providers or departments, balancing provider availability and patient needs.Maintain effective communication with patients, coworkers, and managementMaintain efficient patient flow.Update patient demographics including request for services offered by 26Health.Respond to scheduling requests via phone or patient portal; provide instructions, arrival details, and necessary guidance.Use scheduling systems, multi-line phones, and web-based tools; manage data entry, paperwork, and referrals.Assist in rerouting patients to the appropriate department based on their individual needs. Provide excellent customer service via telephone to prospective and current patients of the organization. Monitor patient schedule to accommodate same-day appointments. Contribute to the positive image of the organization.Perform other administrative and program-related duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Knowledge/Skills/Experience
High School Diploma or equivalent required; Minimum of one (1) year of experience in healthcare, patient services, pharmacy, or outreach coordination.Strong interpersonal and communication skills, especially via phone and written outreach.Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word) and electronic health record (EHR) systems (eCW preferred). Bilingual (English/Spanish or English/Creole) a plus.
Working conditions
Prolonged periods standing, walking, and/or sitting at a desk and working on a computer may be required. Physical requirements
