We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Process Engineer to support and improve our die casting and finishing operations. This role plays a key part in driving efficiency, reducing scrap, and enhancing product quality through data-driven problem-solving and cross-functional collaboration.
Position Summary
The Manufacturing Process Engineer will develop, optimize, and support die casting and related manufacturing processes to improve productivity, quality, and reliability. This is a highly visible, floor-focused engineering role that works closely with production, quality, tooling, and maintenance teams.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter who enjoys solving real-world manufacturing problems, influencing positive change, and leading improvement efforts without direct authority.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and reduce scrap.
- Develop and maintain process documentation (work instructions, process sheets, control plans).
- Lead process optimization efforts for die casting operations focused on cycle time improvement.
- Partner with production to troubleshoot process issues and drive root cause solutions.
- Support tooling, fixture, and process improvements to improve quality and repeatability.
- Introduce and validate new equipment, processes, and automation.
- Track and improve key production metrics (scrap rates, downtime, cycle time, OEE).
- Lead root cause analysis using 5 Why, Fishbone, DMAIC, etc.
- Support Safe Launch processes and customer requirements for new product introduction.
- Lead and track corrective and preventive actions to improve process performance and product quality.
- Collaborate with the Vice President of Quality anticipating problems, providing input on solutions, reacting productively to change to enhance in-process inspection methods.
- Work cross-functionally with leadership to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1+ year of experience in a manufacturing environment (co-op/intern experience accepted).
- Experience in die casting, machining, or metal manufacturing preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, and mechanical aptitude.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, PowerPoint); MRP/ERP experience preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or SPC.
- Strong communication skills and ability to influence others without direct authority.
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
