DESCRIPTION
The anticipated pay per hour is $15.00, DOQ. Cheer and Pom Coaches will lead and mentor our team of cheerleaders and pom dancers. The ideal candidate should have a passion for cheerleading and pom dancing, as well as experience in coaching and teaching these skills to others. They will be responsible for developing routines, choreography, and skills training for the team, as
well as overseeing practices and performances on game day. Cheer and Pom Coaches report to the Recreation Supervisor – Youth and Cultural Arts Programs.
Requirements:JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Good customer service
- Ability to lift 20 pounds.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal)
- Ability to understand and exhibit behavior consistent with the stated park district policy.
- Able to work well with children.
- Must be at least 16 years of age
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop and teach cheerleading and pom dancing skills to participants.
- Basic knowledge of cheer or pom, stunts and routines.
- Create routines and choreography as well as practice plans for the season.
- Understand and implement the District’s mission and values statements as created and approved by the Park District Board.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with team members, parents and other coaches.
- Assists staff and substitute for staff as needed.
- Maintains control of class participants and makes sure they are in the proper location.
- Ensure the safety of participants during practices and performances.
- Informs supervisor and completes necessary forms if an injury or accident occurs.
- Communicates with parents, registration desk, and supervisor in a timely and accurate manner.
MARGINAL FUNCTIONS
- Proper use and storage of equipment and supplies.
- Cleaning of equipment / supplies used.
- Responds to parent concerns.
- Informs supervisor of any information that is distributed to participants.
- Wear Park District staff shirt and identification during all work hours.
PHYSICAL/ENVIRONMENTAL CONSIDERATIONS
- Must be able to tolerate sun, light rain, heat, cold and humidity and other conditions.
- While performing this job, the employee is required to speak and listen.
- Employee is required to stand, walk and use hands.
- Employee is occasionally required to sit, stoop or kneel, lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Specific vision requirements include, distance, color vision, peripheral and depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Employee must be able to follow supervisor directions with safe follow through and exercise good judgment and safety awareness. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities.

- Must be organized, with good interpersonal communication skills, supervisory skills, safety awareness and sound judgment.

- Worker will use all required PPE.
- All unsafe conditions are to be reported to your supervisor immediately.
