Description:

 We are seeking a compassionate Peer Respite Host to support individuals experiencing mental health challenges or crisis in a safe, welcoming, and recovery focused environment. This role uses lived experience, peer connection, and practical support to help guests stabilize, build coping skills, and move forward in their recovery journey.

This is a hands on, people centered role for someone who is comfortable building trust, supporting individuals during difficult moments, and contributing to a collaborative team environment.


Key Responsibilities:

Peer Support and Engagement

  • Provide empathetic, non judgmental peer support to guests
  • Share lived recovery experience in a supportive and appropriate way
  • Encourage hope, resilience, and personal empowerment
  • Build positive relationships and foster a sense of community

Guest Support and Recovery Planning

  • Collaborate with guests to identify needs, goals, and coping strategies
  • Support guests during emotional or stressful situations
  • Encourage healthy routines and self-care practices

Safety and Crisis Support

  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment
  • Use de-escalation techniques during crisis situations
  • Follow agency protocols for emergency situations and reporting

Daily Operations

  • Support daily routines including meal preparation and household tasks
  • Facilitate group activities and peer led support opportunities
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming space

Documentation and Communication

  • Accurately document guest interactions, progress, and incidents
  • Complete required documentation in a timely and compliant manner
  • Communicate effectively with team members and leadership

Team Collaboration

  • Participate in team meetings, supervision, and ongoing training
  • Collaborate with internal staff and community partners
  • Support agency productivity and quality standards

Transportation

  • Transport guests to community appointments and resources as needed
  • Additional duties may be assigned as operational needs evolve.


Requirements:

 Minimum Qualifications

  • Lived experience with mental health challenges and demonstrated recovery
  • Peer Support Certification or ability to obtain certification within three months
  • Ability to work flexible schedules including evenings, nights, and weekends
  • Strong communication and documentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer proficiency
  • Strengths based and recovery focused approach
  • Professional presence and ability to build community relationships

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with diverse populations
  • Experience supporting individuals impacted by homelessness, substance use, mental health, or poverty
  • Knowledge of Tri Cities, Benton County, and Franklin County community resources
  • Licensing and Requirements
  • Valid Washington State driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to pass required background checks
  • Eligible for Agency Affiliated Counselor registration

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform light physical work including standing for extended periods and repetitive hand motions
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally


Salary Information

$17.51 - $23.63 Hourly Wage
