Position: Staff Accountant
Department: Finance
Reports To: Rodney Carter
Position Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining the organization's financial records, ensuring accuracy in reporting, performing account reconciliations and assisting with the month-end and year-end close processes. Your work will ensure our organization remains compliant with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) while providing management with the data needed for strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
- General Ledger: Maintain and balance the general ledger by recording daily transactions and preparing journal entries.
- Financial Reporting: Assist the Controller and Finance Director with monthly financial reporting. Assisting in the close
- Reconciliations: Bank Reconciliations, G/L Account Reconciliations, and
- Accounts Management: Support accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) functions, ensuring all invoices and payments are processed accurately.
- Audit & Tax Support: Assist with internal/external audits by gathering documentation and preparing schedules; assist in the preparation of tax filings and registrations.
- Process Improvement: Identify inefficiencies in current accounting procedures and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy and productivity.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: 1–3 years of professional accounting experience preferred (entry-level candidates with strong internships will be considered).
- Software: Experience in Quickbooks Online or similar software is desired. MS Excel.
- Knowledge: Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Soft Skills: High level of accuracy, strong organizational skills, and the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
Qualifications:
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Prior experience in accounting or finance.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Physical & Work Requirements:
- Hybrid Work Schedule
- Prolonged periods of sitting and computer use.
- Frequent use of accounting and ERP systems and standard office equipment.
- Regular communication via phone, email, and virtual meetings.
- Ability to focus on detailed financial data for extended periods.
