About the role
Are you passionate about technology and eager to apply your skills in real-world embedded systems development? We’re looking for an FPGA Engineer Intern to join our engineering team! This is an opportunity to work alongside industry experts and be hands-on with cutting-edge audio, video, and data distribution technologies that enhance passenger experiences in private aircraft.
Key Details
- Work Days and Hours: Our normal working hours are 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday, with the flexibility to work a 4x10 or 5x8 schedule.
- Duration: 10-12 weeks
- Location: This is a full-time onsite position located in Kirkland, WA.
- Compensation: $20 - $30 per hour
- Work Eligibility: Must be a U.S. Citizen and authorized to work in the United States.
- This position is under Heads Up Technologies but will be working in the Innovative Advantage business unit. A new employee to the organization will be employed by Innovative Advantage Inc.

- Engage in Exciting Projects: Work on a complex FPGA & embedded systems project that plays a crucial role in our mission to enhance passenger experiences.
- Collaborate and Learn: Partner with a Software intern and our experienced engineering team, fostering a collaborative environment where ideas flourish and skills are honed.
- Innovate and Develop: Utilize your school's curriculum to develop, test, and refine FPGA solutions and products that are reliable and impactful.
- Contribute to Success: Your work will directly support our commitment to delivering dependable products and exceptional customer support.
What will make you successful in this role (skills)
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in your junior or senior year pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Relevant coursework in circuits, logic design, and computing systems.
- Strong understanding of Verilog HDL and design/debug experience with AMD/Xilinx FPGAs.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to analyze technical challenges.
- Excellent time management and communication skills to work effectively in a team.
- Previous work experience (technical or non-technical) that demonstrates responsibility and initiative.
Desired Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience working with Xilinx IP Design flow and exposure to embedded software systems and designs (Baremetal or Linux).
- Prior experience with C/C++ and Python.
- Prior experience with scripting languages (BASH/TCL), electronics debugging tools, software version control (SVN or Git), and hardware/software integration methodologies.

The pay range for this role is:
20 - 30 USD per hour(Kirkland, WA)
