Position Summary

The HR/Payroll Generalist is responsible for supporting daily human resources functions while administering accurate and compliant payroll processing. This role ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, supports employee relations, manages benefits administration, and processes payroll in a timely and confidential manner. The position serves as a key liaison between employees, management, and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Administration

Check timesheets for accuracy
Process bi-weekly payroll for multi-site employees and corporate employeesEnsure compliance with wage and hour laws including the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA)Maintain payroll records and ensure proper tax withholdingCoordinate payroll tax filings and reporting (federal and state)Reconcile payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiriesManage garnishments, levies, and benefit deductionsWork with third-party payroll system – ADPWorking with Accounting for accurate billings of employees time and accounting entries for each payroll cycleEntering data into spreadsheets to maintain confidentiality of employee records

 

Human Resources Functions

Administer onboarding and offboarding processesMaintain employee files in compliance with the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other employment regulationsAssist with benefits enrollment and open enrollment coordinationSupport recruitment efforts and job postingsMaintain compliance with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) regulationsAssist with performance management tracking and documentationSupport employee relations matters and investigationsPrepare employment verification and unemployment responsesEnsure compliance with OSHA and workplace safety documentation

Compliance & Reporting

Maintain HRIS database integrityPrepare internal HR metrics and payroll reportsAssist with audits (internal, financial, workers comp, benefits)Maintain confidentiality of personnel and payroll records

Qualifications

Education & Experience

Associate or bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred3–5 years of combined HR and payroll experienceMulti-state payroll experience preferredProperty management or multi-location experience is a plus (if applicable to your portfolio)

Knowledge & Skills

Strong knowledge of payroll regulations and tax complianceUnderstanding of employment law and HR best practicesHigh attention to detail and accuracyAbility to handle confidential information professionallyStrong communication and problem-solving skillsStrong Microsoft Office Suite (advanced excel skills)
