About this position
The Head Boy's Varsity Soccer Coach is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of the school’s soccer program, including varsity and sub-varsity teams. This position plays a vital role in developing student-athletes both on and off the field, emphasizing athletic excellence, strong Christian character, academic integrity, and sportsmanship consistent with the mission and values of the school.
The Head Boy's Varsity Soccer Coach is a position requiring a calling to use God-given talents to further the Kingdom of God. The Head Boy's Varsity Soccer Coach is expected to be a minister to the OCS community through actions, speech, attitude, and prayer, as they point students to Christ.
Key Responsibilities
Program Leadership & Coaching:
Oversee and direct the entire soccer program, including varsity and sub-varsity (JV/middle school) teams
Plan, organize, and lead all in-season and off-season practices, conditioning, training sessions, and skill development
Develop age-appropriate training plans that promote player growth, teamwork, and safety
Supervise, mentor, and evaluate assistant and sub-varsity coaches
Scheduling & Operations:
Create and manage practice schedules, game schedules, and transportation coordination
Coordinate non-district games, tournaments, and scrimmages in alignment with school and athletic association guidelines
Ensure compliance with all FHSAA (or applicable governing body) rules and school policies
Player Development & Character Formation:
Foster a culture of Christ-centered leadership, integrity, discipline, and respect
Model and promote high Christian character on and off the field
Support and encourage academic excellence and accountability among student-athletes
Maintain clear communication with players, parents, athletic administration, and school leadership
Program Management:
Assist with equipment inventory, uniforms, and facility use
Support fundraising, camps, clinics, and community outreach initiatives as needed
Promote a positive and unified soccer culture throughout the school community
Prior coaching experience at the high school or club level required.
Former college player/coaching is preferred.
Strong knowledge of soccer fundamentals, strategy, and player development.
Currently holds a B license or ability to obtain.
Demonstrated commitment to Christian values and the mission of Christian education
Ability to mentor student-athletes spiritually, academically, and athletically
Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Background check and school-required clearances
