Job Summary:

Pattison's Academy is seeking a passionate and driven Lead Counselor to join our summer camp team. Reporting to the Camp Director and Assistant Camp Director, this position will be responsible for facilitating a 4-week camp program for participants with multiple and severe disabilities. As a Lead Counselor, you and a Co-Lead would supervise a group of counselors assigned to the group, while ensuring that our camp programming is individualized to the needs of your campers. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have experience working with individuals with disabilities 
  • Minimum of 2 semesters of higher education with a focus on one or more of the following: Education, Therapy (SLP, OT, Physical), Medicine, Psychology
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory or leadership experience

 

Responsibilities:

As a Lead Counselor, you will be expected to carry out the following job duties:                                                                                                                                           

  • Execute a daily schedule of activities while adapting the camp program to target the goals of each camper
  • Collaborate and work with a co-lead to ensure daily group tasks are complete
  • Lead camp counselors in modifying and accommodating campers’ individual needs 
  • Think creatively to ensure each child is socially, educationally, and physically challenged in all activities
  • Monitor, evaluate, and report on campers’ daily activities via camper goals, daily logs, and daily parent communication
  • Work closely and collaboratively with all members of the interdisciplinary team 
  • Flexible to the pace and needs of the children and the program 
  • Lead and assist counselors in caring for campers’ personal hygiene needs, including oral feeding, tube feeding, and toileting/diapering 
  • Ensure compliance with all safety requirements 
  • Acts as liaison between camp counselors and camp administrative staff
  • Oversee camper data collection 
  • Participate in daily briefings, debriefings, and check-ins with administration
  • Assist with daily setup and breakdown of activities 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Salary Information

$18.0 - $20.0 Hourly Wage
