Position Title: Project Manager
Location: Opelika, AL
Position Summary
The Project Manager is responsible for the overall planning, coordination, execution, and financial performance of assigned civil construction projects. This role requires extensive experience in commercial construction, with a strong preference for candidates with hands-on sitework and civil infrastructure expertise including grading, utilities, storm drainage, concrete, and roadway construction.
The Project Manager will serve as the primary point of contact between the company, owners, engineers, subcontractors, and internal teams, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contract requirements and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Planning & Execution & Closeout
Manage projects from pre-construction through closeoutDevelop and maintain detailed project schedules, budgets, and work plansCoordinate mobilization, logistics, site operations, and sequencing of workReview plans, specifications, contracts, and project documents for scope and riskLead pre-construction meetings, progress meetings, OAC meetings, and coordination meetingsOversee project closeout including punch lists, documentation, warranties, and final billing
Financial Management
Prepare and manage project budgets, cost projections, and change ordersMonitor job costs, production, cash flow and profitabilityApprove purchase orders, subcontracts, and change ordersReview and approve subcontractor and vendor invoicesPrepare monthly project cost reports and forecasts for management
Contract & Risk Management
Administer contracts and ensure compliance with all contract termsManage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and claimsIdentify and mitigate project risksEnsure compliance with all regulatory, safety, and environmental requirements
Site Operations & Team Leadership
Direct and support superintendents and field staffCoordinate subcontractors, inspectors, engineers, and client representativesMaintain strong working relationships with owners, municipalities, and agenciesProvide leadership, mentorship, and accountability across project teams
Quality & Safety
Enforce company safety policies and OSHA complianceEnsure quality control standards are met or exceededPromote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvementRequired Qualifications
Minimum 3+ years of experience as a Project Manager in commercial constructionStrong preference for experience in civil/sitework construction, including:Earthwork & gradingUnderground utilitiesStormwater managementConcrete & pavingRoadway and infrastructure projectsBachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Building Science or related fieldProven ability to manage projects valued at $8M+Proficient with construction management software (Trimble, Bluebeam, MS Project, etc.)Strong knowledge of construction contracts, scheduling, and cost controlExcellent leadership, communication, and organizational skillsWillingness to travelPreferred Skills & Competencies
