Weekend availability is required. Spring hours are flexible, weekend availability is preferred. Summer hours are primarily focused on summer camp instruction. REQUIREMENTS: Must be willing to consistently provide guest service above and beyond expectation and demonstrate excellent representation of the aquarium through a positive, can-do attitude and teamwork focused work ethic.Be at least 20 years of ageHave an associate’s degree or at least 2 years completed towards a 4-year degree.Have the ability to instruct students of varying ages from early elementary to high school in a variety of educational settings. Must be a self- starter with the ability to take charge and work independently. Serve as a positive and enthusiastic role model.Must be flexible to accommodate a varied schedule that may includes days, evenings, nights and weekends. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.Must pass required background check and driving check to be qualified for hiring.Knowledge of marine science topics is preferredCurrent driver’s license with excellent driving record and insurance is required.RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead outreach, birthday part programs, overnight programs, experiential learning programs and summer camps for preschool through secondary aged students and families as scheduled.Maintain a safe and appropriate classroom setting. Provide a safe and healthy environment for the educational animal collection during programming.Take initiative to remain current with marine science topics, maintain awareness of developments within the Aquarium, and keep up to date with programming.Offer feedback and evaluations of program schedules and outlines.Maintain work schedule and keep an open line of communication with supervisor.Promote a positive Aquarium image while interacting with parents and children in a tactful, considerate, and professional manner.Establish and maintain positive, cooperative, and effective working relations with fellow employees.Follow the direction of Aquarium operational policies and procedures.Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor.Safety/Security All employees are responsible for working in a safe manner at all times.Every employee must properly use, and keep in good order, all personal protective equipment (PPE) supplied to them as protection from recognized hazards.Every employee must report any unsafe condition.Every employee must have a working knowledge of all Facility wide, and department specific, safety procedures that relate to their position, including, but not limited to: Emergency Evacuation, Lockdown Procedure, and Fire Extinguisher Use.
