Waldorf School of the Peninsula (Preschool - Grade 12) is celebrating it's 41st year of bringing Waldorf education to Northern California. Our school has two beautiful campuses: Preschool through grade 5 in Los Altos and a few miles away in Mountain View are grades 6-12. Our school is a full member of and accredited by the Association of Waldorf Schools of North America and fully accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Waldorf School of the Peninsula is seeking compassionate, reliable, and collaborative Substitute Coaching Assistants to support our Middle and High School Athletics program. Our ideal substitutes are individuals who appreciate Waldorf education, can provide a warm and nurturing presence, and are comfortable stepping into a variety of learning environments.

Responsibilities

  • Substitute in after-school Athletics in High School
  • Provide classroom supervision and support as directed by the lead coach 
  • Maintain a calm, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment 
  • Uphold classroom rhythms, routines, and community agreements 
  • Support students’ social-emotional well-being throughout the day 
  • Communicate effectively with faculty, parents and administrative staff 
  • Ensure student safety and follow all school policies and procedures
  • Assist with driving a school van to transport students (Valid driving license required)

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting
  • Waldorf training preferred, or interest in, or familiarity with Waldorf education 
  • Strong classroom/student management and communication skills 
  • Ability to adapt, take initiative, and maintain a steady, grounded presence 
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work on short notice on-call, as-needed basis
  • Must pass a background check and TB assessment 

Compensation

The hourly payrate for this position is $23.97 an hour.
