Description:
BAO Systems sits at the intersection of data science and public health impact. This role leads growth across BAO's domestic and global health portfolios, with a focus on building new markets, systematizing business development processes, and managing key strategic partnerships. The position balances hands-on relationship management with organizational-level strategy.
While this role reports to the President, there will be close collaboration with New Business Teams, CDO practice areas, product teams and the CEO.
Core job responsibilities
Domestic Health and Business Development (60%)
- Build and manage relationships with key decision makers at domestic health agencies including federal stakeholders (CMS, HRSA, HHS, and CDC), state and local stakeholders, as well as private foundations.
- Identify and pursue strategic opportunities aligned with BAO's products and services. Translate agency needs into actionable business development strategies.
- Support the development of a more systematic and standardized approach to business development across BAO without displacing the existing decentralized, SME-driven model. This includes creating shared tools, processes, and frameworks that amplify the work already happening across teams.
- Collaborate with product teams to surface market insights and customer feedback that inform product direction and positioning.
- Stay current on industry trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging opportunities in domestic public health data, analytics, and AI.
- Lead or manage new domestic health portfolios as opportunities materialize.
International Development Portfolio (40%)
- Manage and grow BAO's partnership with Accenture as prime contractor on the AFS, Evolve, or other contracts, both funded through State Department and Global Health Security and Diplomacy mechanisms.
- Bridge government priorities with BAO's scope on existing contracts. Strengthen the prime-sub relationship and identify expansion opportunities within current or new contract vehicles.
- Leverage field presence and on-the-ground insights to identify new business development opportunities in the international development space.
- Support the development and execution of a strategy to grow BAO's international data systems portfolio across US Government and other funding sources.
- Provide strategic and management support to existing global health portfolios. Lead new portfolios as they develop.
- At least 15 years of related and progressive experience in global and domestic public health.
- Deep knowledge of data collection, data integration, data analytics, and data science in global and domestic public health contexts.
- Deep knowledge of US Government international development operating environments, including State Department and Global Health Security and Diplomacy funding mechanisms.
- Demonstrated experience in strategic business development, including building partnerships, identifying opportunities, and managing growth in federal and international development markets.
- Experience working within or alongside decentralized organizations; ability to introduce structure without disrupting existing workflows.
- Ability to translate between executive, technical, and operational audiences. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Executive presence with the ability to represent BAO Systems credibly with senior government and private sector stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work remotely and independently while maintaining strong collaborative relationships across teams.
- Experience managing prime-sub contractor relationships.
