What does your day to day with us look like 

  • Assist the Project Manager in managing retail construction projects from planning through completion, including monitoring schedules, budgets, and material procurement.
  • Evaluate the feasibility of established timelines and, when necessary, renegotiate more realistic deadlines with stakeholders.
  • Analyze project data and information to identify, in collaboration with the Project Director, the site superintendent responsible for overseeing construction activities.
  • Act as a key point of contact and liaise between internal and external stakeholders involved in project execution.
  • Negotiate and award contracts to subcontractors, and provide the required information to the Project Manager’s Assistant for contract issuance in accordance with company procedures.
  • Manage subcontractors and ensure compliance with structural standards, quality requirements, and health and safety regulations on job sites.
  • Conduct site inspections to monitor work progress, verify quality of execution, and document site conditions.
  • Prepare quantity takeoffs and material estimates to support cost control and project budgeting.
  • Produce technical drawings and plans using AutoCAD under the supervision of engineers.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, architects, and suppliers to coordinate activities and resolve technical or operational issues on site.
  • Participate in regular meetings with stakeholders to ensure adherence to schedules and key project milestones.
  • Track actual project costs against the approved budget and identify variances.
  • Identify and monitor change orders not included in the original contracts, in collaboration with internal and external parties, to ensure proper client billing.
  • Supervise the duties and responsibilities of the Project Manager’s Assistant and contribute to their annual performance evaluation.

 

What do you need to ensure Excellence in your role? 

  • 2-4 years of solid experience in project management in construction for big projects from conception to delivery
  • Construction related education (Architecture / Engineering / Project Management)
  • Solid organizational skills, including multitasking and time-management
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency with MS Office including MS Project and Procore
  • Capacity to work under pressure and set priorities tasks while multi-tasking and handling various trades and projects and handle projects to the start to finish.
  • Available to work in the office and in the construction fields.
  • Available and has necessary certifications to visit job sites across Canada and the USA.
  • Solid experience in project planning, estimating, scheduling, cost controls, project administration and contract management.
  • Demonstrated competence in the areas of safety, workforce management, quality and project execution
  • Strong interpersonal communication and leadership skills interacting directly with clients’ architects, consultants, contractors, trades. Etc.. English proficiency is required as the position involves interacting with English-speaking Canadian and American clients. Strong written, verbal, and reading skills in English are necessary.
