About this position
The Summer Support Technician must have a high level of mechanical aptitude. This position will rotate between different positions within Operation. The employee will learn and conduct tasks associated with manufacturing and maintaining on-site machining equipment. Examples of tasks include:
- Performing light mechanical assembly work.
- Performing light electrical and hydraulic assembly.
- Cut, nail, glue and paint plywood and wood products to construct equipment boxes.
- Staging materials which may include the use of a band saw.
- Machine tending involving parts used to manufacture equipment.
- Organizing and cleaning work areas that support improved safety and inventory management.
Essential Job Functions (Including but not limited to):
- Performs light assembly of new and existing products including mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
- Performs various tasks as outlined above that may include painting, cleaning, organizing, and machine tending.
Preferred Skills:
- Have basic proficiency in the use of hand tools and power tools.
- Basic level math skills.
- Ability to work within a team environment in a safe manner.
- Ability to effectively communicate in English through writing and verbally.
- Competent with personal computers using windows and email.
- Self-motivated, enthusiastic, team player.
Physical Demands:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.
- The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- The position requires infrequent lifting, pushing and pulling objects that are up to 20 pounds.
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:
- This is a part-time position for the summer months - typically June, July and August.
- Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Work Environment:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment occasionally may be loud and require ear protection.
- Proper PPE involving steel toe boots and safety glasses are required in all designated areas.
Travel:
- No travel is expected for this position.
Required Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications:
- Must have a valid Driver license, or State issued photo ID.
- Successful completion and passing of fit for duty physicals, background checks and drug & alcohol testing programs.
