Barista

 Overview: 

As a Barista, you delight customers with your exceptional service in crafting various drinks in the Interurban Café.  As our Barista, your goal will be to make the Cafe a fun and engaging place; with the highest quality. Showing our customers your enthusiasm and knowledge about our products and services. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management and deemed necessary from time to time.

• Consistently crafted various coffee shop drinks at the highest quality, following Cafe standards.
• Deliver exceptional customer service that ensures sales and high levels of customer satisfaction.
• Execute on the cafe service standards: offer a warm welcome, recommend add-ons, personalize the customer's order, offer membership, and thank the customer!
• Greet and establish rapport with customers, proactively engaging them in conversations about our Café products, services, and promotions to determine their needs and recommend the right products.
• Ensure all customer transactions are processed accurately and in a timely manner.
• Perform all support tasks in the Cafe, including cleaning cases and equipment, and restocking displays
• Drive sales by engaging all customers in our café and customer sampling of Cafe products and upselling where possible. 
• Ensure execution and compliance with operational standards for the Cafe
• Perform all opening and closing tasks
• Protect Company assets by ensuring the accurate execution of loss prevention procedures, including cashiering and inventory standards, waste logs monitoring, sample recording, coupon redemption and discount and return policies
• Some food related handling duties as needed.
• Assist in any area of the store as needed

Education and/or Experience:

• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to engage with customers’ and their preferences
• Flexibility to work various shifts.
• Basic math skills
• Experienced Barista – 1 to 2 years ideally (open to entry level)
• Hands-on experience with brewing equipment is preferred
• Experience crafting different types of coffee and tea is preferred
