TO Live is seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to join the Human Resources team in this full-time role.
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Human Resources Manager provides leadership, guidance, and hands-on human resources support to TO Live’s full-time leaders and unionized hourly workforce within Patron Services, Food & Beverage, Kitchen, and Box Office operations. This role is responsible for employee relations, labour relations support, and partners closely with operational leaders to ensure compliance with collective agreements, employment legislation, and organizational policies.
Due to the nature of TO Live’s live performance and event operations, this position requires flexibility and availability to work evenings and weekends as required.
ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide leadership, advice, and day-to-day human resources support to managers and supervisors supporting unionized hourly staff.
- Interpret and apply collective agreements, employment legislation, and TO Live policies and procedures.
- Support labour relations activities, including grievance handling, investigations, disciplinary processes, and participation in union meetings as required.
- Partner with operational leaders to support performance management, attendance management, workforce planning, and employee engagement initiatives.
- Support accurate processing of Benefits invoicing to the City.
- Maintain accurate employee records and human resources documentation.
- Ensure compliance with employment standards, benefits, insurance, health & safety, and other applicable legislation and requirements.
- Support onboarding, training, and professional development initiatives for assigned employee groups.
- Participate in organizational initiatives related to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and employee experience.
- Undertake special projects and duties as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
JOB SPECIFICATIONS
- CHRP/CHRL designation, post-secondary education specializing in Human Resources / Labour Relations.
- 5 – 10 plus years’ experience in human resources preferably in a unionized environment.
- Demonstrated experience in labour relations, including grievance handling and collective agreement interpretation.
- Experience administering employee benefits programs.
- Excellent knowledge of employment laws and practices.
- Occupational Health & Safety certification and Standard First Aid CPR/AED training.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- High degree of confidentiality, discretion and judgment required.
- Experience in the performing arts and/or not-for-profit sector preferred.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Flexibility in hours and schedules and include work on nights, statutory holidays and weekends as required.
- Lack of natural light in workplace.
- Frequent travel between TO Live venues.
