Job Summary
WILO NJ is seeking a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in providing medical care and oversight for individuals with developmental disabilities. The LPN will administer medications, coordinate medical appointments, and ensure compliance with medical protocols. This role also supports empowerment, quality of life, and community integration in alignment with the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Developmental Disabilities regulations.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical files, prescriptions, and required documentation for all Residents.
- Communicate with guardians regarding medical matters and coordinate annual physicians, dental visits, and follow-up care.
- Administer and oversee medication management, including creating MAR sheets, verifying prescriptions with pharmacies, and safely discarding expired medications.
- Monitor Resident health by recording vital signs, weights, and responding to health concerns with appropriate follow-up.
- Submit or support submission of medical incident reports (UIRs) as needed.
- Conduct property visits to ensure best medical practices, compliance, and proper documentation.
- Ensure new staff are trained and proficient in medication administration.
- Collect and file medical consult sheets, emergency contacts, consent forms, and other required paperwork.
- Promote Resident safety, empowerment, and quality of life while maintaining professionalism in all communications.
- Comply with all DDD regulations and participate in ongoing training as required.
Qualifications
- Must have a current, active LPN license in good standing
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities
