Compensation: $101,900-$152,500
The estimated range is the budgeted amount for this position. Final offers are based on various factors, including skill set, experience, location, qualifications and comparisons to colleagues in similar roles
Position Summary
Reporting to the Vice President, General Counsel, assists with day-to-day operations of the legal department. Plans, organizes, and risk management; professional/general liability coverages via self-insurance trust and all other insurance; manages litigation and claims activities in conjunction with counsel and third-party claims administrators; general legal services including contract review and drafting/preparing corporate documents and general legal support.
Key Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive legal services, including contract review, preparation of legal documents, and general legal guidance. Review legal aspects of administrative policies.

Advise and consult with the Vice President, General Counsel on Legal Department operations, recommending policy, program, facility, and process improvements to support hospital objectives.

Collaborate with Risk Management and Loss Prevention to evaluate and strengthen programs that minimize liability. Serve as liaison to attorneys, insurers, and involved parties for incidents that may result in asset loss. Analyze riskmanagement programs to ensure effective coverage and cost reduction.

Prepare administrative reports for the General Counsel, including patient statistics, cost analyses, workforce utilization, safety data, and other records required by licensing authorities, accrediting bodies, or sound business practices.

Participate in credentialing and privileging activities within the Medical Staff Office, ensure compliance with Medical Staff Bylaws and Rules and Regulations, and assist in resolving issues involving medical staff, residents, and medical students.

In partnership with the General Counsel, support the Corporate Responsibility Program by ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements including HIPAA, Stark Law, AntiKickback Statute, Hospital Licensing Act, Medicare Conditions of Participation, and TJC standards. Serve on and/or lead various hospital committees.

Oversee claims and litigation administration for selfinsurance trusts and commercial insurance programs to protect organizational assets.

Perform all essential and marginal job functions safely while maintaining confidentiality and consistently demonstrating Saint Anthony Hospital’s core values.

Maintain knowledge of hospital and departmental policies, including safety, sanitation, environmental, and infection control standards.

Participate in performance improvement activities, including problem identification, data collection, solution development, implementation, and evaluation. Assist with care and maintenance of departmental equipment and supplies as needed.

Attend staff meetings, inservices, and committee meetings as required.
Qualifications

Four to ten years of experience as an Assistant General Counsel

Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school

Experience in healthcare and/or labor law preferred
