About this position

 Job purpose

Responsibilities include a variety of activities ranging from; measurement of product against design specifications based on a combination of inspection plans and print data, helping to develop inspection plans, generation and storage of computer based quality records, basic maintenance of inspection equipment, assisting with non-conforming material process, and other items as required.

 

Duties and responsibilities

An entry level position to start, the following duties and responsibilities will be trained;

  • Perform any Quality Assurance Inspection tasks as needed in support of meeting the company quality objectives.
  • Audit incoming materials, manufactured components, and finished goods for conformance to internal and/or customer requirements following 100% or AQL inspection, and utilizing SPC tools.
  • Responsible for generation and storage of computer based quality related records including the maintaining of raw material and component certifications.
  • Provide shop floor support to resolve daily quality related product and process issues.
  • Operation of CMM / Smartscope equipment as required.
  • Control material rejections and maintain the nonconformance report system.
  • Maintain MSDS database and properly identify safety characteristics of incoming materials and chemicals.
  • Review quality documentation to ensure conformance.
  • Mentor / Train personnel on the production floor and other technicians in proper quality practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications

  • Associate degree in technical field or equivalent technical work experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of computer software programs including Microsoft Office ( Word/ PowerPoint/ Excel)
  • Ability to read and understand product drawings & GD&T fluently.
  • Experience with usage of inspection techniques and knowledge of statistical sampling plans. 
  • Experience with quality inspection equipment including go/no go, pin gauges, micrometers, calipers, etc. is a plus. Training provided.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing, and interact well with all levels of personnel including suppliers and customers.
  • Ability to learn use of Coordinate Measurement Machines and SmartScopes.
  • Knowledge of ISO9000 or AS9100 Standard.
  • Have excellent decision-making, communication and organizational skills 
  • Be able to manage multiple tasks and meet multiple deadlines simultaneously and have a strong sense of urgency.
  • Be self-motivated, focused, and detail oriented with a positive attitude.

 

Working conditions

  • May be exposed to industrial oils, toner, coolants, solvents, lubricants, adhesive and other chemicals.   NOTE:   All safety precautions will be used.
  • Plant wide climate control and air conditioning.
  • Could work in areas with excessive noise.  NOTE: Ear protection available.

 

Physical requirements

  • Could require intermittent and long periods of sitting and/or standing.
  • Required to do repetitive work.
  • Periodic lifting of materials not to exceed 50 pounds.
