Description:
SUMMARY
As a CNC Horizontal Machinist III, you will be required to set-up and run the most complex proven or new parts. May assist programmer, department lead or supervisor in the development of new processes.
Weekend shift hours:
Friday Shift - 12:30 pm to 1:00 am
Sat and Sun Shift - 11:30 am to 12:00 am
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Must be a team player as measured by his/her peers.
- Ability to read and understand blueprints/drawings and related technical data.
- Participate in the quotation process and process development as required
- Program, set-up, and run all facets of work assigned
- Develop fixtures as needed Responsible for maintaining a clean, neat, and safe work environment.
- Receive daily instructions from Production Supervisor and plan day accordingly using the “Shop Floor Control System”.
- Meet job standard times consistently and communicated to lead or supervisor when not.
- Confer with Team Leaders and Programmers regarding drawings, sketches, and design data of a part to
- determine dimension and configuration of tool path(s)
- Must be familiar with the Rotary and Indexing capability as the application applies to all the Machine Centers.
- Use machine controls for proper feeds and speeds for maximum efficiency.
- Optimize process to achieve maximum efficiency.
- Save updated programs, documents, and pictures
- Clock in and off operations according to sequence number of the work order.
- Check parts to ensure they meet blueprint specifications using approved methods of inspection.
- Must be able to use all Standard Measurement Instruments such as: micrometers, height gages, calipers, inter-mics, bore gages, comparators, thread gages, gage pins etc. to measure the manufactured parts and assemblies.

- Meet department goals and objectives in a timely manner.
- Promote the company initiative of Lean Manufacturing/Continuous Improvement projects and 5S implementation and sustainment.
- Interact with organizational team members and other departments in a professional manner.
- Adhere to company’s requirements for ISO9001:2008 and ISO13485:2003 certification and compliance.
- Adhere to Safety and OSHA compliance.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- Associate’s degree in Machine Tool Technology preferred
- Minimum five to seven years work experience
- Five years of trade school, vocational education, or four years formal apprenticeship
- Comprehensive knowledge of theoretical and practical aspects of blueprint reading, GD & T
- Extensive knowledge of accepted inspection practices
- Extensive knowledge of CNC programming and G & M code
- Extensive probe and tool pre-setter knowledge
- Extensive troubleshooting skills.
- Demonstrated ability at operating computer numerical control machines
- Ability to read blueprints to ensure accuracy in part making
- Ability to speak basic English language
- Knowledge of Shop safety practices and use of PPE
PHYSICAL DEMANDS WHILE PERFORMING THE JOB:
- Visual acuity: near acuity and accommodation are required for reading machine dial gauges, blueprints, and
- precision measuring instruments used in the inspection of parts
- Hearing ability: ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes in order to take appropriate
- action
- Frequently required to stand, walk, push, reach overhead, and bend to the floor
- Frequently required to sit and use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
