About this position

 

DUTIES:  Provide instructional delivery, development, and revision of aviation safety inspector, management, and/or instructional system specialist training courses. Facilitate classroom activities such as student orientation, roll call, notifications of changes, maintenance of class roster, submission of final grades, and recommendations for improvement. Identify the need for additional classroom resources. Follow prepared lesson plan and ensure stated course objectives are presented. Measure student performance using skill practices and tests. Use course curriculum to help ensure operational objectives are achieved. Utilize teaching methods such as lecture, lab demonstrations, remedial discussion, and coaching. Use teaching aids such as lesson plans, student guides, lab guides, handouts, wall charts, prepared notes, and use of actual lab equipment. 

SKILLS:  A minimum of two years experience within the previous 10 years as a maintenance and/or avionics inspector, preferably Aviation Safety Inspector. Specialized experience for instruction of specific courses may be required. Strong skills in oral and verbal communication, behavior modeling, and facilitation, is required. It is preferred that candidates have a baccalaureate or higher degree in education, management, or an aviation degree discipline, or have at least three years' experience in adult education.

 Must demonstrate good communication skills and the ability to work independently or under general direction. Specialized knowledge of FAA systems, equipment, procedures, and operations is highly desired.  Must be able to obtain Public Trust Security clearance.
